May Favourites | EG

After posting my June wish list last week, I realised that I hadn’t done my May favourites! I know, I’m an awful blogger. This week I’ve decided to share my favourite this month, including clothes, makeup and and other random bits! I’ve started to figure out the kind of look I would like my blog to have, as I have moved away from the more girly, sticker obsessed blogger I once was. I hope you all still enjoy reading my posts, and I would always appreciate recommendations of what you would like to see!

Makeup

Recently I’ve become a bit makeup obsessed. I never use to wear makeup until around Christmas, and then suddenly the majority of my wages have been blown on the newest primer!

These are my favourite pieces from this month that I’ve really enjoyed using.

Face

This past month I’ve loved having a bit of tan for once! I burn almost instantly so fake tan has been a good friend of mine this month. Don’t worry though, I haven’t gone full out orange, just a subtle bronze. The Benefit Hoola Bronzer has been my absolute favourite to bronze up my face with and contour a little. It looks so pretty and is very matte, so it looks really nice with a highlighter.

Another thing that I’ve really enjoyed using is the Freedom Pro Studio Fixing Spray. I couldn’t find the matte one, which is the one I would’ve rather had, yet for £5 I wasn’t going to leave this behind. It is really good actually. It has kind of a nutty smell to it? Maybe that is just me. I honestly think that my makeup stays on so much better, especially since I prefer wearing lighter coverage on my face. I would definately recommend it.

Eyes

I adore the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, as do countless youtubers and bloggers. It is honestly amazing! I was not one for plastic brushes as I preferred proper bristles, yet after using this I am converted! I got the waterproof one as it holds the curl in your lashes a lot better, however I think I would like to purchase the one with argan oil in as that sounds really good too!

Lips

Recently I have really got into lip products. I was able to pick up this revolution lipstick in ‘looking ahead’ from Superdrug and it is the prettiest pink brown colour. If you read my blog a lot, you’ll know I am a lover of these kinds of colours.

I’m sure everyone knows that nyx is now coming to boots! I squealed when I saw it in my local store. Recently I went back and picked up a Butter Gloss in Praline. It is a lovely light brown colour and feels like velvet on the lips. The colour looks so lovely over the revolution lipstick too!

Clothes

My two favourite clothing items have been my topshop mom jeans and my adidas superstars. Paired together the look so laid back, yet stylish. The trainers are the comfiest shoes I’ve honestly ever owned! Since I’m a 6 I can get the children’s ones, and when you sign up you get 15% off, so these shoes cost just £37.95 with postage! White is great for summer and hopefully they stay this white.

Other favourites

My favourite youtuber this month has been McKenna Kalein. Her channel, Simply_kenna is so full of positivity. Her fashion is lovely and she does such good makeup tutorials. McKenna is a Buddhist, and she teaches about some of her beliefs as well. I really think you guys should check her channel out, but you might become addicted!

Another youtuber that I’ve really enjoyed watching is Gabriella Lindley. I love both of her channels but my favourite recently has been her blogs on Planet Gabb. She hasn’t updated one in a few days and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for it!

My favourite albums this month have been Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande, and Wiped Out by The Neighbourhood. You guys know I am the biggest Ariana grande fan, and when the album was released I fell in love! Right now I’m listening to Let Me Love You. My favourite are Leave Me Lonely and Knew Better/Forever Boy. On The Neighbourhoods new album my favourites are Daddy Issues and Baby Came Home 2/ Valetines. I definately recommend checking these albums out as they are so so good!

High Street vs High End : Highlighters | EG

Today I have a post about something that has suddenly taken over the makeup world: highlighters. Whether it’s contouring, strobing or perfecting your brows, highlighters seem to be the finishing touch. For Christmas I received a small high beam by benefit. I also purchased Asdas highlight and define  for around £2-3- a fraction of the cost of any of Benefits products.

More well known to beauty bloggers, is benefits high beam. Used by countless youtubers and endless bloggers, everyone seems to love it. My favourite thing about it is the colour. The glitter in it is very fine and is not obvious.

This is Asdas highlight and define, a much bigger product for a lot less money. This blends really well and gives a lovely shimmer.

So how do they compare?

On the top right is Asda and the bottom left if benefit. You can see that they have very similar consistency and very fine shimmer to them. However, Asdas is a little darker whereas Benefits is more of a baby pink.

Highlight and define has a small lip gloss like wand. This makes application extremely easy and build able. High Beam has a kind of nail varnish brush to apply the product with, which can be difficult, but the brush is soft which is really nice.

As you can see, high beam is a lot less creamy than highlight and define. Both apply quite nice, but with Asdas product, more comes out. This could be a problem but as it is quite blend able it’s not major. When I had finished taking those photo, the benefit highlighter had dried on my hand and was hard to blend, whereas the Asda highlighter was still creamy and blend able.

Both highlighters blended nicely, I think which one you prefer depends on how much you like to wear. Personally I prefer a brighter highlighter as it shows up better on my pale skin. However, I also sometimes use a powder highlighter. The benefit blends to just a shimmer whereas the Asda highlight still has some coloured pigment in it.

Overall, I think that Asdas highlighter is the best as it is purse friendly, extremely similar to high beam and blends nicely on the skin. The main thing for me was to find a highlighter that looks great for a low price, and I think I’ve found it!

Have you guys got a favourite highlighter?

Have a lovely day!

Mini Haul | EG

Recently I went into town with some of my friends and bought a few things. After not blogging for a week or two I thought it was about time I wrote something up for you guys.

These are just the bits of makeup that I bought from a few places.

After seeing that primark have a huge new make up range, I decided to try their new bb cream. I prefer using bb cream to foundation because it sits nicer on my face and gives my skin a more even look.

I got one of lightest ones because im quite pale and I definitely didn’t want the dreaded orange line along my jaw. From the picture, you can see that it matches my skin nicely and is not cakes. Of course, I only did a swatch and didn’t rub it in as I would on my face.

Personally, I really like this product. It smells slightly like cucumber which is really refreshing and it is also very moisturising. However it isn’t extremely pigmented, but when it’s priced at only £2.50 I’m not going to complain that it isn’t Mac quality.

The next thing I bought was a concealer. In the T.J Hughes in my city centre they sell all of the w7 range and loads of nice makeup. I decided to pick up the ‘go’ concealer as it seems pretty similar to my benefit ‘boi-ing’ concealer and I don’t want to run out of it.

The ‘go’ concealer is extremely similar to the benefit concealer because it has the same consistency and colour. I actually got a lighter colour in the w7 concealer so it will lighten my under eyes. I like using a wax concealer because I find that it lasts alt longer than liquid. I got this for just £2.99 which I think is great considering how similar it is to the benefit concealer.

The next thing I got was another mascara. I currently use the waterproof max volume flash by rimmel. This is the best mascara I’ve ever used, I find that it looks even nicer on my lashes than the ‘they’re real’ by benefit. This isn’t on sale anymore, so I picked one up in T.J Hughes for just £3.99.

The last thing I bought is definitely my favourite. Primark have also started doing lip crayons and when I saw this one I fell in love with it.

It’s a velvet matte lip crayon and was just £2! It feels really lovely to apply and doesn’t dry my lips. It is quite a cool toned brown-pink colour. Combined with a lighter pnik nude colour it looks really nice with some shadows from the w7 in the nude palette.

Have you guys bought any new things you love?

Have a lovely day!

The Best Gift Set Ever? | EG

I’m sure over Christmas everyone got atleast one gift set. I have many from various different brands but I do have a favourite – the Benefit Number Ones set. This set includes all of Benefits best sellers in mini versions- high beam, hoola bronzer, rockateur blush, they’re real liner and mascara, porefessional primer and eye cream.

First of all – how gorgeous is the packaging! The polkadots look so pretty against the gold foil background. My favourite product in this set is definitely the boi-ing concealer. It has such high coverage and blends in really nicely.

The high beam highlight has been raved about by so many bloggers and I can’t disagree with them. I use it under my brow bone and on my cheekbone and blend it out to create a pearly effect which is really pretty.

Something I have used a couple of times is the hoola bronzer. This is so pigmented and blends in really well. The bronzer in this set is a smaller version of the actual one, but is the perfect size for people who are starting out in makeup.

These are a few of my favourites from the set. I’d defiantly recommend this as a kind of ” starter pack ” for people who are wanting to get into makeup as its perfect and has all of the mini bestsellers. I think Benefit – although quite pricey- has great products that can create a really lovely make up look.

P.s, has anyone seen my new theme? I’ve decided to update my blog as I thought it was more me. When I started my  blog I was in love with the colour pink, I’ve decided to kelp my blog more neautral now and I hope you all enjoy it!

Have a lovely day!
